Beat Keepers: Women With Rhythm is an organization dedicated to celebrating the powerful presence of women in drumming and percussion. Our mission is to inspire women to embrace their rhythm and passion for drumming, while showcasing their talent to the world.
At the core of our work are our films, with a special focus on “Beat Keepers: The Next Chapter.” This critically acclaimed film has garnered awards and praise for its compelling storytelling, following the journeys of the next generation of female drummers. It highlights their passion, challenges, and the ways they are shaping the future of percussion. The film has resonated deeply within the drumming community, capturing the essence of women breaking barriers in the world of rhythm.
We are also proud to have released our first film, “Beat Keepers: Women With Rhythm,” which explores the experiences of women drummers, paving the way for the conversation that continues today.
Meet our Maker: Cindy Goldberg
Cindy Goldberg is an accomplished drummer, filmmaker, and producer based in Ottawa, Canada. In 2019, Cindy directed and produced Beat Keepers: Women with Rhythm, a documentary that brought attention to the challenges and triumphs of female drummers. The film was praised for its compelling narrative and its role in advocating for greater representation of women in the music industry.
Building on the success of her first film, Cindy returned with the sequel, Beat Keepers: The Next Chapter, which further explores the evolving role of women in drumming and the bonds they form through music.Â
Through her work both behind the kit and behind the camera, Cindy is committed to breaking barriers, inspiring the next generation of women to redefine their place in both the music and film industries.

Beat Keepers: The Next Chapter is a documentary that invites us to meet inspiring women who have chosen the drums as their musical instrument. Through their testimonies, we discover the challenges of choosing an instrument that imposes itself through its power and that is traditionally played by men. An excellent documentary that breaks with convention, raising questions of women's self-determination and access to culture. A must-see!
You will walk away with rhythm in your step and a smile on your face after seeing Beatkeepers Women with Rhythm 2. What an amazing profile of beautiful women doing what they love and helping others at the same time. Congratulations to the whole team and particularly to Cindy Goldberg for making this documentary.
This is my new favourite movie about drummers. I love how the many themes in the musical journey of a drummer, and in particular, women drummers are explored. Some of the themes are unique to women, while most are common to any musician. The importance of social interaction and support, the struggle of learning new musical concepts etc made this not only fun to watch but provided a foundation of personal discovery in defining our own musical journey!
This was an absolutley wonderful documentary that showed the stories of how the participants were able to live out their dreams.

Wow! This is a must see by all female drummers. It will inspire, motivate, and bring tears to your eyes. I even had goose bumps on arms and knew I had to go play my drums right after. This is a true inspiration for such a great cause and to allow female drummers to come together, share their stories, and be heard by their every beat. Excellent job to Cindy and her team for putting this video together. Highly recommend to all!

What an incredible reflection of what it's like to be a drummer in today's society. I would describe this video as motivating, fun, encouraging, and heartfelt. I highly recommend watching if you are a drummer or looking into becoming one, or if you know of any drummers or have drummer friends this is something you will enjoy watching and gain a positive experience from. Great inspiration, very positive and motivating. I love the support these women give to each other in this documentary. A must see for all woman age 6-91.
